Amazon Prime – What Is It and How to Use It

If you are always on the lookout for great offers at prices worth the money, then you might want to sign up for Amazon Prime.

But what exactly is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime is a $119-per year subscription service that provides a range of interesting perks that are not accessible by regular users. Members of Amazon Prime can enjoy free video streaming, black Friday deals, discounted food deals, free two-day shipping and other amazing benefits.

According to Jeff Bezos, the Amazon CEO, Amazon Prime has a subscriber base of 100 million as of 2018. If the huge number of members is anything to go by, Amazon Prime is definitely offering benefits you can’t afford to pass up.

Whether you are a shopping freak that wants the best deal or student looking to save some money, here’s how to make maximum use of Amazon Prime.

Signing Up

Once you subscribe to the Amazon Prime service, you automatically have access to all the perks. To sign up, click the ‘Try Prime‘ link located on the homepage of Amazon. The sign-up page will open, and you’ll see a prompt asking you to “Start your 30-day free trial”.

To create a new account, you’ll have to provide your name, email address, and password. After entering your payment information, cancel your free trial so $99 won’t be deducted from your account automatically. This way, you’ll be able to select a plan that suits you.

Prime Students

One such plan is the Prime Student available for students with .edu email addresses. If you are a student, you’ll enjoy a 50% discount, which elapses after four years or until you finish school, whichever comes first.

Government Beneficiary

Do you receive assistance from the US government and have a valid EBT card? Then you can also pay discounted prices by entering your EBT number and sending an image of the card.

Finding Amazon Prime Products

Not every item on Amazon qualifies for prime benefits. To find out if a product you are interested in has the Prime logo, type its name into the search bar and click on enter. On the results page, look for the ones with the Prime logo (orange check and the word ‘Prime’ in blue).

Prime Shipping on Amazon

All Amazon products with the Prime logo are eligible for Prime shipping – a 2-day free shipping guarantee. If your product gets to your location late, you are entitled to a free month subscription.
